About Janitrol
Janitrol was acquired by Goodman Manufacturing in 1982, which in turn was acquired by Daikin Industries in 2012 (which also owns Amana).

Janitrol brand furnaces and air conditioners have been consolidated under the Goodman brand name since 1992 and are no longer being manufactured. However, many Janitrol HVAC products are still in use and replacement parts are available.

Janitrol HVAC age & equipment life expectancy

Many homeowners want a Home Inspector to predict how long their HVAC equipment will last. This is simply impossible and beyond the scope of a Home Inspection — depending on the model, installation, maintenance, and fuel source its lifetime could be anywhere between 1 to 30 years or more.

The first step you should take when determining the HVAC equipment’s age is to check the manufacturer’s label attached to the unit.

The  label will often include pertinent information including:

  • Manufacturer Name
  • Brand Name
  • Manufacture Date
  • Model Number
  • Serial Number

If you can’t determine the installation date of the HVAC Equipment, it’s worth checking to see if you’re nearing time for a replacement based on the manufactured date/age.  You can use the model number in conjunction with the serial number of the unit in order to determine the HVAC equipment’s age.

Here is a list of additional HVAC Manufacturers.

Janitrol serial numbers are a ten (10) digit numerical sequence where the year and month are encoded in the first four(4) digits. The year is the first two(2) numbers and the month is the third and fourth numbers. The remaining six(6) are the manufacture sequence . For example 0708140314 was manufactured in August 2007.
